Perhentian Island Trip 2011

Alhamdulillah…. finally we went to Perhentian Island, after so much hurdles and problems to make this trip happen but it was so worth all the effort and time spent.  Perhentian Island is superb  - with its clear sapphire blue coral-fringed waters, breathtaking sights, seascapes, sunrise and sunsets.  Subhanallah – this island is simply magnificent.  No questions on why Lonely Planet has ranked this beautiful beach as the fifth “Best Beach to Swing a Hammock” in its 1000 Ultimate Experiences for 2010.  Alhamdulillah syukur.. for the whole time we were on this beautiful island, the weather was perfect with rain only on our last night there.

We started our journey at 1100 pm from Gombak toll – only 2 cars at this time as another family, ie Casper’s joined later.  The journey was uneventful, we made 1 brief stop and another drink stop and we arrived safely at Kuala Besut around 6 am.  Rested for awhile and waited for the sun to come up and shops to open – around 730 we left the mosque area to find breakfast.  We headed near the jetty where we found a small coffeeshop selling roti canai.  Casper arrived shortly after that.   We contacted the boatman and was informed that the boat would depart for Perhentian around 830 am.

Bandung Trip (16th – 19th January 2008)

Day 1 16th January 2008

By Linda

This review is long overdue … now that I am in the hype of travel reviewing after our Krabi trip, I’d better get this done and posted for our friends

This trip was planned well ahead due to the flight booking requirement.  What initially was meant for our own family holiday turned into a “Rombongan Cik Linda” – in total, there were 20 of us – all family group.. although it it a bit hard to manage a bigger group than my own family, with a few hiccups here and there, but we had great fun travelling together.

Our day started very early on the 16th as our flight was on 9 am @ LCCT.  We had a quick breakfast at the adjacent new complex in LCCT.  The uneventful flight took around 2 hours to reach Bandung Husein Sastranegara Airport.  Upon arrival, there are a few taxis waiting for us for the hotel pick-up.  For this trip, we have booked the Arion Swissbel Hotel.  This is a boutique hotel with swimming pool (not all hotels in Bandung has a swimming pool). Since we arrived a few hours before check in time, after registering, we immediately called the tour agent to pick us up for lunch and start some shopping at Pasar Baru.

Bali Family Trip 2007

Last March 2007 we went for a short break … a holiday on the mystical island of Bali.  I’d say 4 days is definitely not enough time to explore even half of the island.  No wonder all the “bule” (mat sallehs in Balinese) would stay there for at least 2 weeks.

Our 3 hours flights for Denpasar around 10.15 a.m. Arrived at Ngurah Rai International Airport and was picked up by the hotel representative for check in at the Pat Mase Residence located in Jimbaran - a place famous for the seafood and beautiful sunset.

The place was superb...all lush and posh and very tastefully decorated . The Villa we took was a 3-room villa which

3 JUNE – 6 JUNE 2010

Day 1

As usual, this trip was planned many months before... Taking advantage of cheap sale from Air Asia, we bought the tickets back in September 2009.  Early planning is good as you have ample time to do surveys on prices of apartments and car rentals and the planning of the duration of your holiday… ad hoc holidays are more suitable for couples, but definitely not us – usually our trip will be followed by other family members so we need to plan properly to ensure all goes smooth with as much less hiccups as possible.

As I said in my write up for our earlier Krabi trip.. we were there once again to admire the beauty of Allah’s gift to us.

This trip was nearly cancelled but due to our friend - Edi & wife, Lin’s determination and persuasion, we proceeded with it anyway.. and all of us thoroughly enjoyed this trip.
